Wilson Bridge

  1. Once you have crossed the Woodrow Wilson Bridge (coming from MD), or just before crossing it (coming from VA), take the Alexandria exit for Route 1 North.
  2. Once on Route 1, go four traffic lights to Duke Street. Make a right onto Duke Street.
  3. Once on Duke Street, follow until it ends.
  4. At the end of Duke Street make a left onto The Strand.
  5. Once on The Strand go about half a block.
  6. A public pay parking lot leading to our pier will be to your right.
  7. The entrance gate to our pier is on the water's edge to the left as you are facing the river from the parking lot.

14th Street Bridge South Bound

  1. Once on the 14th Street Bridge heading south, take Exit 10B, Mount Vernon-Reagan National Airport. This will put you on the George Washington Parkway Heading South.
    Important: You will NOT be able to access this exit from the HOV lanes crossing the bridge.
  2. If you choose to use the HOV lanes, continue on 395 South and take Exit 8C, Crystal City-Alexandria, Route 1 South. At this point follow the Crystal City Directions.
  3. Once on the Parkway, continue past the Airport into Old Town Alexandria.
  4. Once in Old Town, the Parkway becomes Washington Street.
  5. Stay on Washington Street until you see a statue of a confederate soldier in the center of the street. This is the intersection of Prince and Washington Streets.
  6. Go one more block south to Duke Street. Make a left onto Duke Street
  7. Once on Duke Street, follow it till the end.
  8. At the end of Duke Street make a left onto The Strand.
  9. Once on The Strand go about a half a block.
  10. A public pay parking lot leading to our pier will be to your right.
  11. The entrance gate to our pier is on the water's edge to the left as you are facing the river from the parking lot.

American Legion (Cabin John) Bridge

  1. Once you have crossed the American Legion Bridge (coming from MD), or just before crossing it (coming from VA) take the George Washington Memorial Parkway exit.
  2. Once on the Parkway, continue past the Airport into Old Town Alexandria.
  3. Once in Old Town the Parkway turns into Washington Street.
  4. Stay on Washington Street until you see a statue of a confederate soldier in the center of the street. This is the intersection of Prince and Washington Streets.
  5. Go one more block south to Duke Street. Make a left onto Duke Street
  6. Once on Duke Street, follow it until it ends.
  7. At the end of Duke Street, make a left onto The Strand.

Directions from Interstate 66 East-bound

  1. Take I-66 to Exit 72, Lee Highway-Spout Run Parkway going East.
    Important: Do NOT take 495 from I-66, you will be stuck in traffic for the rest of the evening!
  2. At the end of the exit ramp there will be a traffic light, make a right at the light onto Lee Highway.
  3. Immediately after turning off the I-66 exit ramp, get in the far left hand lane so you can make a left at the next light. This will be Route 124, Spout Run Parkway.
  4. Make a left onto the Spout Run Parkway. This will lead into, and then become the George Washington Parkway.
  5. Follow the GW Parkway past Reagan National Airport into Old Town Alexandria.
  6. Once in Old Town the Parkway becomes Washington Street.
  7. Stay on Washington Street until you see a statue of a confederate soldier in the center of the street. This is the intersection of Prince and Washington Streets.
  8. Go one more block south to Duke Street. Make a left onto Duke Street
  9. Once on Duke Street, follow it until it ends.
  10. At the end of Duke Street make a left onto The Strand.
  11. Once on The Strand go about a half a block.
  12. A public pay parking lot leading to our pier will be to your right.
  13. The entrance gate to our pier is on the water's edge to the left as you are facing the river from the parking lot.

Directions from Interstate 95 North-bound

  1. Take I-95 North to Route 1 North to Old Town Alexandria

Directions from Crystal City

  1. Take Route 1 South into Old Town Alexandria.
  2. Once in Old Town, Route 1 becomes Henry Street ( This is a one way, 3 lane street ). Stay in the left lane.
  3. Make a left onto King Street (King will follow after Queen Street and Cameron Street respectively)
  4. Once on King Street, follow it until it ends.
  5. At the end of King Street make a right onto The Strand.
  6. Once on The Strand, go one block to Prince Street
  7. Turn left on Prince then make immediately make a right. This is a continuation of The Strand ( This street is named "The Strand", not "Strand Street"), follow The Strand for about a half block.
  8. A public pay parking lot leading to our pier will be to your left.
  9. The entrance gate to our pier is on the water's edge to the left as you are facing the river from the parking lot.

Directions from Metro Rail

  1. The nearest Metro Rail Stop would be the yellow or blue line to the "King Street Station." It is approximately two miles from the Dandy. There are cabs available. Buses run approximately every half hour during the rush hour and will take you within 4 or 5 blocks from our piers. If you choose to walk you will find it very pleasant because of all the many interesting little shops along the way.
  2. When you get off the metro you will go down the stairs and to the left to King Street.
  3. Follow King Street toward the river (away from the Masonic Temple), go approximately 2 miles (the walk is down hill) to Union Street.
  4. Turn right onto Union Street. Go 1 block, and turn left onto Prince Street.
  5. Go two blocks and you're at the boat.
  6. Dash About offers free transportation from the metro to a 3 or 4 block walk to our pier during the following times:
    • Friday evening from 7:00 PM to midnight,
    • Saturday from 10:00 AM to midnight,
    • Sunday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM
